Tonie Review
We are all missing family and I am the absolute Queen of missing my grandchildren. For me, the Tonie box has been a lifesaver as it allows me to record stories for them to play when it suits them. That has proved to be almost all of the time………
It is an expensive purchase but for someone with a disabled child, it can be very satisfying. I record stories that I know my granddaughter will understand and be able to follow then upload them to a character who sits on the Tonie box and there I am reading the story.
It puzzled the kids at first they thought I was in the box or just at home reading the same story all day.
Grace is able to play the Tonie box herself and I make stories up about my house and garden and dog. I also did a Christmas Tonie. The surprise for me is how the other kids love Tonie too and so I customise stories for them as well.
I sneakily include a poem or two so that the kids learn the classics like the ‘Jumbilies’ because I don’t think schools teach enough poetry and of course recently they haven’t been at school.
There are pre-recorded Tonies too. Not cheap but for a portable comfort system that can accompany a child who may be in hospital and to drive any son-in-law mad ! Who doesn’t want to listen to my voice ALL DAY in every room?????
The kids seem to find it soothing, it is very robust and easy to operate, they cost about £60 for the box, and extra stories are about £15……….if you record your own that is 90 mins which is enough to get most kids off to sleep.
You record the stories on your own computer, then upload them to the Tonie cloud, easy even I can do it.
